This severe weather color by number set opens on a Tornado: a black funnel beside a red barn. Seven more sheets follow, six for other kinds of severe weather and one for the flags that warn of a hurricane.

Wind, thunderstorms and water

Two sheets show wind storms: the Tornado and the Hurricane seen from above. Two come from thunderstorms: Lightning strike and Hailstones. Three are about water: too much in the Flooded street, frozen in the Snowdrift in a blizzard and missing in the Cracked ground in a drought. In the picture list, each description carries one fact from the National Weather Service.

The flags that mean a hurricane warning

The Hurricane warning flags sheet shows a real signal. Two red flags with black centers, one above the other, are the daytime signal for a hurricane warning at United States coastal stations that display flags. One such flag alone means a storm warning.

  • Six of the eight easy keys have black, 67 squares of it on the Tornado: check the black crayons first.
  • Hail and snow print as empty squares: check Put 0 in the white squares in More options to number them.
  • Lightning strike colors all 144 squares; Snowdrift in a blizzard is the quickest at 83.

Questions and answers

Are these severe weather color by number worksheets with questions to answer?

No. They are plain picture sheets: every square that gets a color already holds its number, and the key gives each number a crayon. Nothing has to be solved first, so a sheet works as a quiet task beside the lesson.

Which severe weather color by number sheet is the easiest?

By crayons, Hurricane seen from above: 2, blue for the ocean and green for the land, with the spiral of cloud left white. Hailstones and Snowdrift in a blizzard need 3 each, and Flooded street the most, 5.

Do the sheets say what to do in a tornado or a hurricane?

No. They are for coloring, and the picture list gives one fact about each kind of weather, not safety steps. For what to do before and during a storm, use the safety pages of the National Weather Service at weather.gov.

Is there a weather color by number without storms?

Yes. The weather set has a sunny day, a partly cloudy sky, a rain cloud, a snow cloud, a thermometer and a weather vane. This page keeps to the storms, a flood and a drought.

How this list was compiled: Our own pixel pictures, drawn square by square for this site on 12 by 12 and 24 by 24 grids in October 2026. Nothing is traced, scanned or copied from clip art, and no picture shows a brand, a logo or a character from a film, show, book or game. The fact that ends each description was checked in October 2026 against the glossary and the coastal warning signals published by the United States National Weather Service. The pictures are for coloring and give no storm safety instructions. The color and square counts were counted from the finished grids. Licence: own work
