Pick a list for the lesson
First Aid Kit has 28 words, from Gauze to Moleskin, for the day a class unpacks a real kit. Everyday Injuries has 27, such as Blister, Sprain and Nosebleed. Getting Help carries Dispatcher, CPR and AED. Outdoors and Camp, with Nettle, Tick and Poison ivy, suits a scout meeting.
Facts behind the clues
Each clue is a plain meaning with no treatment steps, and several add a checked fact. The ISO first aid sign is a white cross on green. The first civilian first aid classes met in Woolwich, England, in 1878, and the Scout motto, Be Prepared, dates from 1907.
Questions and answers
What words are in the first aid word search puzzle?
140 in seven themed lists. First Aid Kit alone holds Bandage, Gauze, Tape, Scissors, Tweezers, Gloves, Antiseptic, an Ice pack and a foil Blanket. The Triangular bandage is the one that folds into a Sling.
Which list has the three Ps of first aid?
What Helpers Do. Preserve, Prevent and Promote are all in it, for preserve life, prevent further harm and promote recovery. Airway, Breathing and Circulation, the ABC that courses teach, are in the lists too.
Are Sprain and Strain both in the puzzle?
Yes, both in Everyday Injuries. The clues keep them apart: a sprain is a stretched or torn ligament in a joint, most often the ankle, and a strain is an overstretched muscle or tendon.
Does the sheet name an emergency number?
Yes. The clue for Number, in Getting Help, gives 911 for the United States and Canada, 999 for the United Kingdom and 112 for the European Union. The clue for Call adds that the first 911 call was made in Haleyville, Alabama, in 1968.
