Seven themed lists, plus Easy Camping and Hard Camping
Camping Gear and Camp Kitchen make a packing list to check before the trip. Around The Campfire, On The Trail, Outdoor Skills, Camp Wildlife and Places To Camp cover the days out. Easy Camping takes the 37 shortest words, 3 to 5 letters, with Cot, Mug and Yurt in it. Hard Camping takes the 46 longest, 8 to 12 letters.
A camping word search free printable with fact clues
Tick Show clues, not words in More options for a quiz by the fire. The Cricket clue tells solvers to count chirps for 15 seconds and add 40 for a rough temperature in Fahrenheit.
- Print Camp Wildlife before an evening walk; campers ring the animals they meet, such as Owl, Loon or Firefly.
- Outdoor Skills doubles as practice: find Bowline, Clove Hitch and Square Knot, then tie each with a length of rope.
- S'mores loses its apostrophe and hides as SMORES; Hot Dog hides as HOTDOG.
Questions and answers
Which camping word find list works for the youngest campers?
Easy Camping. All 37 words have 3 to 5 letters, from Cot, Log and Owl up to Trail and Smoke. Nine are Camp Wildlife animals, such as Bear, Moose and Skunk, and only one is a skill: Map.
Why is there no Ridge or Trail Mix in the lists?
Ridge can be read inside Footbridge, and Trail Mix begins with Trail, so a solver could ring letters the answer key does not. Trail mix is still here under its hikers' name, Gorp.
What camp facts do the clues teach?
Small ones worth telling by the fire. The S'mores clue says "The name is short for some more, and a recipe was in print in 1927", and the North Star clue admits it is "only the 47th brightest".
