Which sudoku blank grid to print
The 3/4 inch 9 by 9 grid leaves room to pencil small candidate numbers in each square. The 1/2 inch grid cuts out to fit a notebook. The numbered grid lets a class say row 4, column 7. The 4 by 4 grid takes 1 to 4, and 16 by 16 takes 1 to 16 or A to P.
Copy a puzzle or make one
Write the given numbers from a book or newspaper into the empty squares, then solve in pencil. To make a puzzle, fill a grid so every row, column and box holds each number once, copy it, then erase numbers from the copy.
- Slide a sheet into a clear sleeve and solve with a dry-erase marker, then wipe it for the next puzzle.
Questions and answers
How is a sudoku grid laid out?
The classic grid is 9 by 9 squares split by bold lines into nine 3 by 3 boxes. Every row, column and box must hold 1 to 9 once each.
Is there a 6 by 6 blank sudoku board?
Not yet. Its boxes are 3 squares by 2, and this tool draws a bold line every same number of squares both ways. Print the 4 by 4 grid for beginners instead.
