What a cowboy wears and works with
A cowboy hat has a high crown and a wide brim, and the brim gives shade. A spur is worn on the heel of a riding boot to direct a horse; the spiked wheel on some spurs is the rowel. A lasso is a loop of stiff rope that tightens when pulled. A horseshoe protects the hoof from wear and is usually nailed through the hoof wall, which has no feeling.
Out on the trail
Four sheets go out on the trail: a rider at sunset, a campfire with a coffee pot, the Chuck wagon and a Longhorn steer. The Chuck wagon is the one easy sheet with white squares, 44 for its canvas cover.
- The easy Horseshoe and nails and the Lasso take 3 crayons each, the fewest.
- The easy Lasso has 114 blue squares, so start with a sharp blue crayon.
Questions and answers
Is there a cowboy hat to color by number?
Yes. The Cowboy hat opens the page: brown with a red band and a yellow buckle, against a blue sky. All 144 squares get a color, with 4 crayons on the easy grid.
Is there a cowboy on a horse?
Yes, one. Cowboy on horseback at sunset shows the rider and the horse as one plain black shape against an orange sky, so no face is drawn. It takes 4 crayons and fills all 144 squares on the easy grid.
Do the cowboy sheets come with an answer key?
Yes. The key prints on page 2 as the finished picture in color. Uncheck Answer key on page 2 in More options when you want only the sheet.
