How it works
This rubric template is an empty grid to fill in by hand: a wide Criteria column, 4 level columns and 5 rows, printed sideways under lines for Name, Assignment and Date.

Print the blank rubric template
Press Print the rubric for 4 levels and 5 criteria, on Letter or A4. The Sheet menu has blank grids with 3, 4 or 5 levels; Add a row or the × on a row makes 4 or 6 criteria.
Headings already printed
Some sheets print the level headings: 4 3 2 1, 3 2 1, the 5 point rubric template with 5 4 3 2 1, or the names Exceeds, Meets, Approaching and Beginning. Every box under them stays empty.
Points, comments and self assessment
Three sheets add a Points column, a Comments column or both. Two are the student self assessment rubric template, with narrow Me and Teacher columns after the levels.
- The level names are plain words of our own, not any one school system's scale.
- One upright sheet lists the scores 5 to 1 down the side with a wide box beside each.
Questions and answers
What goes in the boxes of a rubric template?
The criteria go down the first column, one to a row, and the levels run across the top. Each box holds what that level looks like for that criterion. These sheets print the grid and leave every word to you.
Can I type in the rubric before printing?
Not on this page. Every grid prints empty, to be filled in by hand and photocopied once it is written.
How many criteria fit on one page?
Four, five or six rows, by the sheet. The grids print sideways, so each level column is wider than it would be on an upright page.
Is there a rubric template with points?
Yes. One sheet has levels 4 to 1 and a Points column, with Total points and Out of lines under the grid. Another has levels 5 to 1 with Points and Comments, eight columns in all.
