Diamond The April birthstone. It is pure carbon and the hardest natural material known.
Facet One flat, polished face cut into a gem.
Kimberlite The volcanic rock in which diamonds reach the surface from 150 kilometers or more below.
Mohs The 1 to 10 scale of hardness for minerals. Diamond sits at the top, at 10.
Ray One of the thin white petals around the yellow middle of a daisy.
Sparkle To flash with many small points of light, as a cut gem does.
Unbreakable The meaning of adamas, the Greek word that diamond comes from.
Volcano Deep eruptions of these carried diamonds up to where miners can find them.

How is a rainbow made?
