How it works
This STEM exit ticket is for the end of a build or design task. Each slip has Name, Date and Challenge lines, then two lines under each of its three prompts.

Print the exit tickets
Print the exit tickets gives one Letter or A4 page. Cut it along the dashed lines into four slips.
An exit ticket for STEM at each stage of a build
Other slips follow a challenge from its first day to its last: the problem, best idea and next step; a sketch box with a materials list; three numbered trials, with room to add a fourth; four criteria to check Yes or Not yet; and a redesign slip that asks why the change works better.
For a science experiment
Three slips suit an experiment in place of a build. One asks what the student predicted, what happened and why. One asks what the group changed, kept the same and measured. One has lines for the numbers and what they show.
- Type the challenge on the first slip's Challenge line before you print, and all four slips carry it.
- The criteria slip prints four checks of ours. Type your own over them, such as a load the build must hold.
- The last sheet is a filled-in sample from a made-up foil boat test.
Questions and answers
What goes on a STEM exit ticket?
Questions about the test, not the finished build: what the team tested, what failed and what they would change.
Is there a STEM exit ticket for kindergarten?
Yes. Draw what you built has an open box for a drawing and primary lines that start I made it better by. It prints two to a page.
Should each student fill in a slip, or each team?
Either. The first slip says we, so a team can hand in one between them. The team slip asks for my part in the build and an idea a teammate had, so each student fills in their own.
