How this list was compiled: Clues written for this site for a science unit on insects, in five sets: parts of an insect, the life cycle, kinds of insects, bees, ants and their colonies, and how insects live. Facts were checked against English Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org, CC BY-SA 4.0) and the Insects and Invertebrates page of the U.S. National Park Service (nps.gov), in October 2026. Spiders appear only as animals that are not insects. Licence: own work
