How this list was compiled: Own work, written for this site on 2026-10-01. Every question stands over its own drawn number line; its dots are lettered A to D where the choices are points and P to S where they are not. Each picture is drawn from the same exact fractions as the answer; the value under every dot was then worked out a second time, and exactly one choice was checked to be right. No line here has the range and the parts of a fraction line of the number line quiz, and no question of that quiz is repeated. No outside fact is used. How it works

This fractions on a number line quiz draws a line over every question. Find the point for a fraction, name the fraction at a point, match equal fractions on two lines, or say which point lies between two fractions.

Four topics

A set is 10 questions from four topics. The Start from menu under the question keeps the next ones to one topic. Compare and order asks which point lies between two fractions, which fraction lies between two points, and how a point compares with a fraction. Equal fractions stacks two lines cut into different parts, such as fourths over eighths. Parts of one stays between 0 and 1. Past one runs from 0 to 3, with improper fractions such as 7/3 and mixed numbers such as 2 1/2.

Fractions as they are counted

In Parts of one and Past one a point is named as counted: 4 spaces along a line cut into sixths is 4/6.

  • Count the spaces between 0 and 1 first. That count is the denominator for every point on the line.
  • On the stacked lines of Equal fractions, two fractions are equal when one sits straight above the other.

Questions and answers

How do you find a fraction on a number line?

Count the equal parts between 0 and 1: that count is the denominator. Then count the spaces from 0 to the point: that count is the numerator. A point 3 spaces along a line cut into fourths is 3/4.

How do you show equivalent fractions on a number line?

Draw two lines of the same length, one cut into fourths and one into eighths. Fractions at the same distance from 0 are equal: 3/4 on the top line sits straight above 6/8 on the bottom line.

Where do improper fractions go on a number line?

At 1 or past it. Keep counting spaces of the same size from 0: on a line cut into halves, 2/2 is the mark for 1, and 5/2 is five spaces along, the same point as the mixed number 2 1/2.

Which fraction is greater on a number line?

The one farther to the right. On a line cut into eighths, 5/8 sits one space to the right of 1/2, so 5/8 is greater than 1/2.
