How it works
Ten lists take this computer word search from the parts on the desk, through the keyboard and the files on screen, to the internet. That makes 188 words, each with a clue. The first puzzle hides 16, such as Keyboard, Cursor and Browser.

A computer parts word search for the first lab lesson
Under the puzzle, Start from a list has Computer Parts. A class can point at its 27 words, Monitor to Flash drive. Inside the Computer adds 23 that need the case off, such as Motherboard and Heat sink. For kindergarten to grade 2, Easy Computer Words has 58 of 3 to 5 letters, such as Icon and Drag. Under More options, tick Large print.
A typing warm-up from Keyboard and Typing
Pick Keyboard and Typing, then tick Show clues, not words, for a computer terms word search. Pupils read "It rubs out the letter just before the cursor" and find Backspace. "The middle line of letters where your fingers rest" is Home row. Print or save as PDF adds the answer key.
- Flash drive and 15 more two-word entries hide as one run: FLASHDRIVE. Word processor needs 13 by 13 or larger.
- Some clues carry a fact: Paste is named for gluing strips of paper onto a page, and Italic was first printed in Venice in 1500.
- Middle school: pick Hard Computer Words and press Hard. Next, print the computer science word search for coding terms.
Questions and answers
Can pupils solve it on the lab computers?
Yes. Open this page on each machine, and every pupil starts on the same grid. Dragging from a word's first letter to its last is mouse practice.
Why is there no brand or product name on the list?
So the sheet fits whatever machines the lab has. The 188 words name parts, keys, actions and kinds of app, such as Browser and Spreadsheet. None names a company, product or operating system. Type your lab's own names at the end of the word list under the grid.
How were the spellings and meanings checked?
Every spelling was looked up in the American Heritage Dictionary in September 2026. Two-word terms follow its form: Space bar, Hard drive, Web page. Clue facts, such as QWERTY naming the top line's first six letters, come from Wikipedia, read the same day.
