How it works

This Caribbean word search opens at Hard, on Island, Reef, Lagoon, Bahamas, Palm, Hurricane and nine more favorites. Seven lists go deeper: islands, capitals, the sea, wildlife, fruit and spices, food, and music.

Long names for an even harder grid

Hard Caribbean, under Start from a list, has every entry of 8 letters or more: 126 of them, such as Turks and Caicos, Santiago de Cuba, Bougainvillea and Port-au-Prince. Two-word names lose their spaces, so Steel Drum is one run of nine letters.

The island nations, one of them by its capital

Caribbean Islands and Nations has the independent island countries. Three appear as their two islands: Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Trinidad and Tobago. Dominican Republic has 17 letters, three more than an entry may hold, so look for Santo Domingo and Hispaniola.

  • For a younger group press Easy: the same words then run only across and down.
  • Hammock, Canoe and Barbecue are in Caribbean Music and Festivals: all three words came from the first islanders.
  • Accents drop out of the grid: Curaçao hides as CURACAO and Coquí as COQUI.
