Six themed lists, then an easy and a hard one

Fishing Tackle and Bait And Lures name what goes in the box, from Bobber and Sinker to Spinner and Nightcrawler. Freshwater Fish and Saltwater Fish hold the 32 catches, and Fishing Skills and Places To Fish cover how and where. Easy Fishing holds 48 words of 3 to 5 letters, such as Net, Worm and Pond. Hard Fishing holds 24 of 8 to 12, up to Spearfishing.

Fresh water or salt

The two fish lists make a sorting game. Call out Walleye, Marlin or Bluegill and have campers say lake or sea before they hunt for it. The full list below the tool settles each one.

  • Print Places To Fish before a trip and have campers tick off Dock, Cove and Riffle as they spot them.
  • The Gar clue suits a campfire: "It can gulp air at the surface, and its eggs are poisonous to people."

Questions and answers

Is there an easy fishing word search for young kids?

Yes. Easy Fishing holds 48 short words such as Rod, Jig and Bayou. Take words off the list with their crosses until 8 or 12 are left and leave the level on Easy, so every word reads across or down.

Why are Eel and Cod missing from the fish lists?

Eel reads inside Reel, and Cod read backwards sits inside Dock. A puzzle holding both words of a pair would have two right answers for one of them. Both fish are in the fish word search.

How is this different from the fish word search?

This page is about the sport: tackle, bait, skills, places and 32 fish an angler might catch. The fish word search sorts 98 fish by habitat and adds the parts of a fish. The two pages share 20 words.
