Questions and answers

What are the major biomes?

There is no single list: classification schemes differ. This puzzle has a list for tundra, taiga, temperate forest, tropical rainforest, grassland and savanna, and desert, and one for the ocean, reefs and wetlands.

What is the difference between a biome and a habitat?

A biome is a large region of the Earth with its own climate, vegetation and animal life. A habitat is the set of resources and living things in an area that lets one particular species survive and reproduce.

What is the largest land biome?

The taiga, also called boreal forest or snow forest: coniferous forest mostly of pines, spruces and larches. Across North America it spreads over most of inland Canada and Alaska.

Does the biomes word search come with an answer key?

Yes, as page 2 on Letter or A4, and of the PDF if you save one instead of printing. For food chains and food webs, print the ecosystem word search.
