Music

It plays while the timer runs and stops at the end.

Repeat starts the countdown again by itself, for stations.

Keys: Space starts and pauses, R resets, F is full screen. They rest while a button or a field has the focus.

Copies a link that opens this timer at this length.

How it works

This online 2 minute timer shows the time as a disc cut in two halves, one for each minute, and as large digits. It waits, stopped, until you press the button.

Set a timer for 2 minutes

1. Press the main button: the disc starts to empty. 2. Press Full screen on the timer to fill the board. 3. At 0:00 the screen says Time is up, and Start again runs the 2 minutes once more.

A 2 minute countdown for partners and rounds

Turn and talk, a minute each, under Ready-made routines, gives each partner one half of the disc. For rounds, switch on Repeat under More options: the next 2:00 starts the second the last one ended.

  • For a 2 minute classroom timer that swaps partners by itself, check Chime at halfway under More options: one soft chime rings at 1:00 left.

Questions and answers

Is this a 2 minute timer with music?

Yes. The first press starts a track, and it stops at 0:00. The Music list holds four, all made in your browser: Drift, Meadow, Lantern and Tidy-up, which gets faster over the last third.

Is there a 2 minute timer with a buzzer?

There is no buzzer, but there are three end sounds: Soft chime, Hand bell and Wood block. Open More options and choose one under When the time is up. It plays once at 0:00.

Can I use it as a 2 minute timer for kids?

Yes. A child who cannot read 2:00 yet can watch the disc: half of it is gone after one minute and all of it at the end. Nothing flashes.

Is a 120 second timer the same thing?

Yes. 120 seconds is 2 minutes, so this page is a 120 second timer too. For another number of seconds, tap the time and type it: 130 gives 1:30.

Can it be a 2 minute silent timer?

Yes. Choose No music in the Music list by the main button. The button then reads Start the timer, and the end is silent unless you picked an end sound. Your choice is remembered in this browser.

All 15 routines

Two partners, two minutes 3

  • Partner check of the homework Pairs swap last night's homework. In the first minute each pupil ticks what matches their own answers and circles what does not. In the second minute they hand it back and explain one circled answer. Cues: 1:00 Hand it back. Explain one circle.
  • Think 30, talk 60, share 30 Thirty seconds of silent thinking, a minute of talk with a partner, then 30 seconds to agree on the one thing the pair will say to the class. Two cues move the class on, so nobody skips the thinking. Cues: 1:30 Turn to your partner; 0:30 Agree what you will share.
  • Turn and talk, a minute each Partner A answers the question for one minute while B only listens. When the first half of the disc is gone the cue swaps them, and B answers for the second minute. Each half of the disc is one speaker. Cues: 1:00 Swap. Partner B talks.

  • Eight spelling words, 15 seconds each Say a word, put it in a sentence, say it again: 15 seconds a word. The cue shows the number of the next word, and eight words fill the two minutes exactly. Cues: 1:45 Word 2; 1:30 Word 3; 1:15 Word 4; 1:00 Word 5; 0:45 Word 6; 0:30 Word 7; 0:15 Word 8.
  • Four questions, 30 seconds each Read one question at every half minute and take answers only, no working. The cue gives the question number, so you never lose your place. Four questions fill the two minutes exactly. Cues: 1:30 Question 2; 1:00 Question 3; 0:30 Question 4.
  • Label it from memory, then check Show a blank diagram. For 90 seconds pupils label everything they can with the book shut. At 0:30 left the cue opens the book, and they correct their own labels before the time is up. Cues: 0:30 Open the book. Correct your labels.
  • One sentence, then make it better Minute one: write a single sentence that sums up the lesson. Minute two: swap with a partner, who adds one word or fixes one thing and hands it back. The swap comes when half the disc is gone. Cues: 1:00 Swap. Improve your partner's sentence.
  • Write without stopping Pens move for the whole two minutes on one prompt, with no stopping and no crossing out. At 0:30 left the cue says to finish the sentence in hand. Pupils count their words and try to beat the count next time. Cues: 0:30 Finish the sentence you are on.

Moving and resetting 4

  • Coats and bags, then the line Minute one is for coats on and bags on backs. Minute two is for chairs in and a quiet line at the door. The cue at halfway tells anyone still at the pegs to move. Cues: 1:00 Coat on? Chair in, join the line.
  • Find a partner, fetch the kit One minute to find a partner and a space, one minute for one of the pair to fetch the equipment while the other reads the task on the board. When the disc is empty every pair can start. Cues: 1:00 Partner found? One of you fetches the kit.
  • Two minutes to the bell Start it two minutes before the lesson ends. Minute one: finish the line you are writing. Minute two: books away and chairs in. When the screen says Time is up, the room is ready to leave. Cues: 1:00 Books away. Chairs in.
  • Wake-up in four half minutes Four moves of 30 seconds each, standing behind the chair: march on the spot, reach up high, twist left and right, then sit down slowly and quietly. The cue names the next move. Cues: 1:30 Reach up high; 1:00 Twist left and right; 0:30 Sit down, slow and quiet.

  • Speed interviews in two circles Press Repeat. Pupils stand in two circles, facing a partner. The inner circle asks for a minute, then the outer circle asks. When the round ends the outer circle steps one place along. Five partners take exactly 10 minutes. Cues: 1:00 Swap. Outer circle asks.
  • Two minutes a table Press Repeat. Groups work at a table for 100 seconds and walk to the next one in the last 20, and the next round starts by itself. Six tables take exactly 12 minutes. Cues: 0:20 Stop. Move to the next table.

How this list was compiled: Own work, written on 2026-09-30 from common classroom practice. Each routine is one way to spend exactly 2 minutes (120 seconds) with a class, and each cue is given as the time left on the countdown when it appears. Every split was added up twice. The timings are suggestions, not rules or research findings. Change them to suit your class. Licence: own work
