How it works
This maze generator draws a new maze at each press, from 8 by 8 squares up to 50 by 60, square or round. Make your own maze sheet with a title line, and print the solution on a second page.

Pick a size
Easy is 8 by 8 squares, Medium 15 by 15 and Hard 30 by 30. Giant is the one maze rectangle, 50 across and 60 down. Every size fills one page, so a bigger maze has narrower corridors.
Square maze or round
Square starts at the top left and finishes at the bottom right. Round is drawn in rings, 4 on Easy and 30 on Giant, and runs from the rim to the middle.
Choose the paths
Long corridors keeps carving from the newest square, so a wrong turn can run far. More dead ends carves from all over the maze and leaves about twice as many dead ends.
- Switch the size, shape or paths and back again, and the same maze returns. Only New maze draws a different one.
- Show solution draws the route on the maze on screen. The printed puzzle page never shows it; the route prints on the solution page.
Questions and answers
Is this a labyrinth generator too?
In everyday English, yes: labyrinth and maze name the same puzzle. In the strict sense a labyrinth is one path with no branches, and this page does not draw that. Every maze here has branches and dead ends.
How does the generator go about creating a maze?
It starts with every wall up and one square chosen at random. It knocks a wall through to a neighbor not yet visited, again and again, until every square is joined. It never joins two visited squares, so no loop can form.
Which maze designs can the maze creator draw?
Three choices set the design: a size from Easy to Giant, square or round, and long corridors or more dead ends. New maze redraws inside the design you picked. Mazes in a triangle or inside a picture outline are not drawn here.
Is this a maze generator with multiple paths to the finish?
No. Every maze here has exactly one route from Start to Finish and no loops, and the solution page shows it. For more choices along the way, set Paths to More dead ends.
Can a maze puzzle generator print several mazes on one sheet?
Yes. Tick Six small mazes on one sheet for six different mazes, three across and two down, with all six solutions on the second page. The small mazes run from 6 by 6 on Easy to 16 by 20 on Giant.
