Lists for a media unit
Pick a list under Start from a list. In the Newsroom has Deadline, Source and Beat. Print has Byline, Masthead and Dateline. Radio and Sound has Antenna and Static, On Screen has Anchor and Footage, Advertising has Slogan and Jingle, Online has Hashtag and Clickbait, and Fact or Opinion has Rumor, Hoax and Verify.
Clues for a vocabulary quiz
Tick Show clues, not words in the same panel, and the sheet prints meanings in place of the word list: A story passed around that nobody has checked sends the class hunting for Rumor.
- Fact or Opinion pairs well with a real front page: pupils find Claim and Evidence in the grid, then in a story.
- Easy Media Words holds the short ones, such as Tip, Blog and Hoax. Hard Media Words holds Correspondent and Propaganda.

Does it cover online media?
Yes. The Online list has Blog, Stream, Hashtag, Viral, Meme and Clickbait. Device words such as Tablet, Robot and Smartphone are on the technology word search.
Can it open a lesson on telling fact from opinion?
Yes. The Fact or Opinion list holds Rumor, Hoax, Propaganda, Bias, Verify, Evidence and Correction. Print it with clues, then ask which words fit a story the class has read.

Hard Media Words: the entries of nine letters or more, such as Journalist, Microphone and Censorship. The grid grows by itself so the long words have room.
