8 pictures, then 26 letters
Mystery picture 1 to 8 are drawings in 2 to 4 colors, from 44 squares to 88. Mystery picture 9 to 34 are the capital letters A to Z in order, one color each: add 8 to a letter's place in the alphabet, so M is Mystery picture 21. Names stay hidden until you press Show the names.
Numbered chart or blank chart
With Numbers on the chart ticked, a pupil matches: find 34, color it. Untick it and the chart prints blank, so 34 is placed by counting: row 4, fourth square, since each row down is 10 more. The key lists the numbers themselves in counting order, never clues such as 10 more than 24.
- Every block of a letter is 4 squares, so its numbers come in sets such as 45, 46, 55, 56.
- Shortest list: Mystery picture 33, with 28 numbers. Longest: Mystery picture 2, with 88, and 76 of them are yellow.
- Give pupils different letters and pin the sheets up as a word: READ is pictures 26, 13, 9 and 12.
Questions and answers
Is there a 120 chart mystery picture?
No. Every picture here sits on a chart of 1 to 100, 10 rows of 10, and no setting adds the rows from 101 to 120.
Are there Valentine's Day or Christmas hundreds chart mystery pictures?
One suits Valentine's Day: Mystery picture 1, with 60 red squares and 2 pink. Nothing here is drawn for Christmas, Halloween or Thanksgiving, so there is no pumpkin, turkey or snowman.
How do I see which picture a sheet hides?
Tick Answer key on page 2 under More options to print the colored picture and its name. That box starts unticked on this page, so a stray second sheet never gives the picture away.
What grade is a hundreds chart mystery picture for?
Kindergarten and Grade 1. Common Core has kindergartners count to 100, and first graders find 10 more or 10 less than a two-digit number: one row down or up on this chart. For sums in the squares, print the color by addition worksheets.
