Daddy, necktie, piggyback
The opening sheet is the easy list: Dad, Daddy, Father, Hugs, Grill, Necktie, Socks, Mug, Pops and June. Medium heads for the garage and the yard: Wallet, Wrench, Burgers, Camping, Slippers. Hard has the long ones: Grandfather, Fatherhood, Screwdriver, Piggyback, Dad joke, Bear hug.
Race him to the last word
Print two copies, one for Dad. Start together, see who finishes first, then check both against the key page. New scramble mixes the same ten words again, so the rematch is fair.
- Stepdad, Stepfather, Grandpa, Grandfather, Guardian and Role model are all on the lists, so the sheet fits whoever a child is celebrating.
- A family nickname such as Papa or Abuelo can go on the sheet too: type it over any word.
Questions and answers
What words are in the Father's Day word scramble?
Thirty, in three lists of ten. Easy has the short dad words, from Dad and Mug to Necktie. Medium adds Garage, Coffee and Buddy to the gifts and tools. Hard has the long words and the phrases, such as Fishing trip.
Does the Father's Day word scramble come with answers?
Yes. The answer key prints on a second page, after the puzzle, so a child gets page one and you keep page two. Both fit Letter and A4 paper.
When is Father's Day?
In the United States it is the third Sunday in June. Federal law sets the date (36 U.S.C. 109), which is why June is one of the ten easy words.
Is this Father's Day word scramble easy enough for young kids?
The opening list has three and four letter words among its ten, Dad, Mug, Hugs and June, and every scramble has a hint under it. Older children can pick Medium or Hard under Start from a list.
