How it works
On this choice board template students pick which of the nine tasks to do. The Do this many line at the foot says how many, and Finish by says when. With its boxes left empty the board prints blank, to fill in by hand.

Make the board yours
The title and the two lines at the foot are typed over the same way as the boxes. The empty box over each column takes a heading, such as a subject or a day.
Other sizes
The 2 by 2 board has four large boxes and the 4 by 4 has sixteen. Two more boards come with headings: Must do and May do, and Level 1 to Level 3.
Ready-made boards
The reward choice board lists rewards that cost nothing, such as Extra reading time. The morning work choice board has columns for Read, Write and Math. The exit ticket choice board asks students to recall, show or wonder, and the brain break choice board sorts its breaks into Move, Stretch and Calm.
- The ready-made boards print as they are. To change a task, start from a blank board.
Questions and answers
How do I make a choice board?
Pick one skill, then type nine tasks that practice it in different ways (write it, draw it, build it, explain it), one in each box. Print a copy for each student.
Is there a choice board template with Free choice in the middle?
Yes. The four ready-made boards print Free choice in the middle box. On a blank board, type it into the middle box yourself.
What is a must do, may do board?
On this page it is a board with two columns. The tasks every student finishes go under Must do, and the choices for those who finish early go under May do.
