How it works
This adaptive handwriting paper prints rows with a solid top line, a dotted midline and a solid baseline, and shades the band between the midline and the baseline. It opens on 3/4 inch rows with 1/2 inch of space between them.

What the shading shows
The shaded band is the lower half of each row, where small letters such as a, c and e sit. Tall letters and capitals start at the top line. On the sheets with a tail line, a lighter fourth line under the baseline shows how far g, j, p, q and y drop.
Pick the row size and spacing
Rows run from 1 inch down to 3/8 inch, measured from top line to baseline. Three sheets leave a full row of blank space between rows, two turn the page sideways for longer rows, and two put the rows under a picture box. Then press Print shaded paper.
- Check the first print with a ruler: a row of the opening sheet measures 3/4 inch, top line to baseline. If short, print at 100%.
Questions and answers
What makes this handwriting paper adaptive?
On this page it means one extra guide printed on ordinary three-line rows: a shaded band in the lower half of every row. Some sheets also space the rows wider apart or add a tail line.
Is this raised line paper?
No. Raised line paper has ridges you can feel, and a home printer cannot make those. These sheets are flat: the guides are the printed lines and the shaded band.
How many rows fit on a page?
The opening sheet has 8 rows on Letter and on A4. The 1/2 inch sheet has 13 rows on Letter and 14 on A4, and 1 inch rows spaced a full row apart fit 5.
Can I save the page as a PDF?
Press the print button and choose Save as PDF as the printer. The file holds the sheet that is on screen, on the paper size you picked.
