Questions and answers
Does the printable zebra word search come with an answer key?
Yes. The puzzle prints on one sheet of Letter or A4 and the key, with every word ringed, on the next, so you can hand out the first and keep the other.
Are zebras black with white stripes or white with black stripes?
The coat looks white with black stripes, because the belly and legs are white where they are unstriped, but the skin underneath is black. A foal is born brown and white, and the brown darkens with age.
Why do zebras have stripes?
Nobody is certain. Biologists have argued for camouflage, confusing predators, keeping cool and telling each other apart. Most of the evidence so far supports another idea: the stripes keep biting flies from landing.
How many kinds of zebra are there?
Three are alive today: the plains zebra, the mountain zebra and Grevy's zebra. The quagga, a plains zebra of South Africa, was hunted to extinction in the late 1800s.
