A list for each elementary unit
Start from a list offers My Community (22 words), Citizens and Government (24), Culture and Traditions (20), Needs, Wants and Work (18), Then and Now (20), Maps and Places (20) and American Symbols (20). Older classes can go deeper on one unit: the government, economics, geography and history word searches each hold 148 words or more.
Vocabulary review with clues
Tick Show clues, not words, in More options, and the printed list becomes definitions written at a child's level. "Things people would like to have but can live without" sends pupils hunting for WANTS, and "A period of ten years" for DECADE. American Symbols clues carry facts: Pledge gives 1942, the year Congress formally adopted it.
- Capital, the city, is in Maps and Places; Capitol, the building, in American Symbols. Each clue names the differing letter.
- For grades 1 and 2, pick Easy Social Studies and 8 words: 39 short words such as Map and Vote.
- For grades 4 and 5, pick Hard Social Studies, 58 words of 8 letters or more, and press Hard.
