How this list was compiled: 40 clues written for this site on one science unit, in two sets: the basics for grades 4 to 6, and the chloroplast, the two stages and plant tissues for middle and high school. Definitions were checked against English Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org) in September 2026. No clue was copied from a published puzzle. Licence: own work

How it works

This photosynthesis crossword puzzle covers one unit in two levels: the basics, from Stomata to Starch, and the chloroplast and its two stages, from Thylakoid to the Calvin cycle. It is a vocabulary crossword.

Questions and answers

Is there a photosynthesis crossword with answers?

Yes. Every print ends with the answer key on a sheet of its own, and Show all clues and answers, under the puzzle, lists all 40 clues with their answers.

How is this different from the biology crossword?

The biology crossword covers cells, genetics and ecology and leaves photosynthesis out. The two banks share one answer, Producer, with different clues, so a class can do both.

Which grades are the sets for?

Photosynthesis Basics suits grades 4 to 6. Chloroplasts and the Two Stages suits grades 7 to 12. These bands are our judgement, not a published standard.
