Five brown manes and two lions without

The Lion face, the Roaring lion and the walking, resting and sitting lions have a brown mane. The Lioness and the Lion cub have none: a mane is the mark of an adult male lion.

Yellow and black on every sheet

Yellow and black are in all 8 easy keys. The Lion at sunset has the most black, 84 squares, with yellow only for the sun.

  • The Roaring lion is the only sheet with white teeth; its open mouth is red.

Questions and answers

Why does the lioness have no mane?

A mane is the mark of an adult male lion, and lionesses rarely have one. The Lioness here is plain yellow with a brown tuft on her tail, and the Lion cub has no mane either.

Do lion cubs have spots?

Yes, when they are small. A newborn lion has dark spots that fade as it grows up, and the detailed Lion cub grid has brown spots on its head and legs.

What is a group of lions called?

A pride. Lions live in groups called prides, made up of related females, their cubs and one or a few adult males. This set draws its lions one to a sheet.

Which crayon is used most on the lion face?

Brown: 58 squares of mane on the easy grid, against 44 yellow and 6 black. The muzzle is white paper.

How this list was compiled: Our own pixel pictures, drawn square by square for this site on 12 by 12 and 24 by 24 grids in October 2026. Nothing is traced, scanned or copied from clip art, and no picture shows a brand, a logo or a character from a film, show, book or game. The fact in the Lion face description and the answers about manes, cubs and prides on this page were checked against Wikipedia in October 2026, and the color and square counts were counted from the finished grids.
