Court, moves and rules
The easy list is the court: Hoop, Rim, Court, Bench. Medium, the opening sheet, holds Dribble, Rebound, Layup and Pivot. The hard list is rules and plays: Traveling, Shot clock, Crossover and Free throw.
Gym class or a team party
Hand out a sheet in a basketball unit or at an end-of-season team party. Play puts one scramble at a time on the screen for a quick whole-team round.
- Free throw, Shot clock and Bounce pass are two words each: the answer line keeps the space.
Questions and answers
What age is this basketball word scramble for?
The easy list suits grades 1 and 2 with hints on. Medium suits grades 3 and 4, and the hard list, with Championship at 12 letters, suits grade 5 and up.
Are there team or player names?
No. The list holds only words of the game, such as Swish, Tipoff and Scrimmage, so it suits any team or league.
Does each scramble have one answer?
Yes. Net (ten), Steal (least), Assist (stasis) and Fast break (breakfast) were left out because their letters spell something else.
Is there an answer key?
Yes. The answers print on a separate page after the sheet, so a coach can hand out scrambles at practice and mark them later.
Can the team play it on a screen?
Yes. Play shows one word at a time as letter tiles with a stopwatch: tap the tiles in order, and Skip moves on.
