How it works
This alphabet numbers chart gives each of the 26 letters its place in the alphabet: A is 1, M is 13, Z is 26. Other sheets put the number first, count backwards from Z or start from zero.

Print the chart
Press Print the chart. A to M print on the left with 1 to 13, and N to Z on the right with 14 to 26, on one page of Letter or A4. One sheet prints two charts to cut apart.
Letters to numbers and back
To turn a word into numbers, read letter first: CAT is 3, 1, 20. To turn numbers back into a word, print the number-first chart. The word sums sheet has rows for a word, its numbers and their total, with the code printed under the table.
- On the A = 1 chart, mirror letters add up to 27: A and Z, B and Y, M and N.
Questions and answers
What number is each letter of the alphabet?
A is 1, B is 2, C is 3 and so on to Z, which is 26. E is 5, J is 10, O is 15, T is 20 and Y is 25.
What is the 13th letter of the alphabet?
M. It ends the first half of the alphabet, and N, the 14th letter, starts the second.
Why does one chart start from zero?
Some number codes count from 0, so A is 0 and Z is 25. Every number is one less than on the A = 1 chart.
Is there an alphabet number chart to fill in?
Yes, two. One prints the letters with empty number boxes, the other prints 1 to 26 with empty letter boxes. The A = 1 chart is the answer sheet for both.
