Questions and answers

Is a frog a reptile?

No. A frog is an amphibian, so Frog, Toad, Newt and Salamander sit in the Amphibians list. The Reptile clue names the four groups that are reptiles: turtles, crocodiles, lizards and snakes.

Which reptiles are in the word search?

The three reptile lists hold 15 lizard words, 16 snakes and 18 turtle and crocodile words, among them Gila Monster, Bearded Dragon, Rattlesnake, Anaconda, Leatherback, Alligator and Gharial.

Why is Snake not hidden by itself?

SNAKE is part of GARTERSNAKE, CORNSNAKE, KINGSNAKE and RATTLESNAKE, so it would turn up in the grid more often than the answer key marks it. Lizard and Turtle are left out for the same reason. Snake by itself is in the kindergarten word search.

Are dinosaurs on this list?

No. Every animal here is alive today. Dinosaur names have a page of their own, the dinosaur word search.
