How it works
This 18 multiplication chart shows every fact from 1 × 1 to 18 × 18 = 324. Add up the digits of any answer in the 18 row and you get 9 or 18. New practice chart hides half the answers. Type them in, then press Check.

Numbers inside a multiplication chart to 18
An 18 by 18 grid has 324 squares, and 123 different answers fill them. 18 itself is in 6: 1 × 18, 2 × 9 and 3 × 6, each turned around. Pair up turnarounds like 5 × 17 and 17 × 5 and 171 facts remain, 93 of them missing from a 12 by 12 chart.
The 9 row, doubled
Every answer in the tinted row is twice the 9 row answer in its column: 9 × 6 = 54, so 18 × 6 = 108. The digit trick from the 9 row carries over, since 1 + 0 + 8 is 9. Only 198 and 288 break the pattern, and their digits add to 18.
- Think of 18 as 20 − 2. For 18 × 7, take 14 away from 140 to get 126.
- A standard round of golf is eighteen holes, so the row counts holes played: 36 after 2 rounds, 72 after 4.
- The row marks a circle's turns in degrees: 18 × 5 = 90 is a quarter, 18 × 10 = 180 a half, 18 × 15 = 270 three quarters.
Questions and answers
What does a multiplication chart of 18 show?
Two things. The grid gives every product from 1 × 1 to 18 × 18, and its tinted last row is the 18 times table: 18, 36, 54 and on to 324. Each fact in that row is also listed further down.
Which answer shows up most on a multiplication chart 18 by 18?
36. It fills 7 squares: 2 × 18, 3 × 12 and 4 × 9, their turnarounds, and 6 × 6 on the diagonal. Press any 36 and all 7 light up.
Why does 144 appear in the 18 row?
Because 18 × 8 = 144, the same answer as 12 × 12 and 9 × 16. Press it and 5 squares light up. The 18 row and the 12 row share six answers on this chart: 36, 72, 108, 144, 180 and 216.
