Parts of friendly letter worksheet 2nd grade
One sheet prints a short letter in five numbered boxes under a word bank, and the student writes the name of each part. A checklist, four to a page, has a box for each part.
Letters that need commas
Two sheets print a letter of ours with commas left out, two on the first and four on the second. The answer key is its own sheet.
- The grade is our suggestion: the Common Core puts commas in greetings and closings in grade 2.
- The envelope sheet prints sideways, with boxes for the return address, the stamp and Send to.
Questions and answers
What are the five parts of a friendly letter?
These sheets name five: the heading, which holds the date, the greeting, the body, the closing and the signature. The first sheet prints each name above its lines.
Where do the commas go in a friendly letter?
After the greeting and after the closing: "Dear Nana Bea," and "Your grandson," on the sample. The harder sheet adds a comma in the date and one between the town and the state.
Is there a punctuating a friendly letter worksheet for 3rd grade?
Yes. The sheet "Add the commas: a friendly letter with an address and a date" leaves out four commas: between the town and the state, in the date, after the greeting and after the closing.
Are there letters to read on the worksheets?
Only short ones written for this page: two with commas left out, one cut into five parts to label and one sample from a made-up student named Theo. The frames are blank.
